Manny Pacquiao has again proven himself as the best fighter in the world today by knocking out Ricky Hatton in the second round of their fight. Manny now has six titles in six different weight class.

Pacman clearly dominated the match while Ricky got pounded in the face and body. He has now a record of 49-3-2 while Hatton fell to 45-2. Manny Pacquiao earned $12 million while Ricky Hatton was paid $8 million. WWE superstar Batista was also with Manny Pacquiao during his entrance.

GMA-7, local media broadcaster, meanwhile seems to insult its viewers by showing hundreds of advertisements and an incomplete match. Martin Nievera was shown singing the Lupang Hinirang but local audiences did not see Tom Jones sing God Save the Queen.

After the match, the usual “press release” of our senators were published on the Philippine Senate website. Here are three of the PRs released,

PRESS RELEASE

Statement of Senate Majority Leader on Manny Pacquiao’s victory

“Manny Pacquiao has always been and is the pride of the Philippines. His win proves to the world that Filipinos can excel in any endeavor, whether it is in the field of politics, public service, sports, or entertainment. Manny proves to us that no fighter coming from the West or from the East can stand in his way to promote goodwill for the Filipino people.

“His win goes to show that the Filipinos can do it. We can be world class and we can be the source of national pride. We can make it in the international arena.

“I hope the entire nation continue to unite as we always do every time Manny fights. I wish these rare moments of unity would spread out throughout the years to come because we need that kind of national unity to be able to promote peace and development in our country.”

Pia: ‘Pacquiao personifies triumph of the human spirit’

Philippine Senator Pia S. Cayetano today hailed Manny Pacquiao’s victory over world junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton in such dominant fashion, knocking out England’s popular fighter in just the second round of their 12-round world title duel.

“Manny Pacquiao personifies the triumph of the human spirit. He is a fine inspiration to all Filipinos, especially the poor who face adversity every day,” she said.

“From his humble beginnings as a bakeshop and fish-port worker in General Santos City and as a struggling young boxer who fought on weekends just to buy food for his family, Manny worked his way up to become world champion in six different weight classes, joining the ranks of boxing legends, and with this latest conquest, the pound-for-pound king of his generation.”

“As an athlete, I myself am awed by his discipline, respect for his coach, humility even in times of great victory, and love for God and country,” added the lady lawmaker, who is also a lawyer and triathlete.

“Manny has all the ingredients of success: talent, hard-work, determination, the right combination of humility and confidence, the best coaching staff, support from family, friends and country, and faith in God.”

His latest conquest made Pacquiao world champion in a record-tying sixth weight division: flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight.

The only other fighter to have achieved this feat is Oscar dela Hoya, whom Pacquiao also sent to retirement with a victory over him in a non-title bout last year.

“By making the right moves and decisions, both inside the boxing ring and outside of it, Pacquiao could be one his way to becoming the pound-for-pound king of all time,” added Cayetano, in reference to Manny’s much-anticipated next fight with welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr., the undefeated six-time champion in five different weight classes.

KIKO PANGILINAN: PACQUIAO SHOWS THE WORLD HOW PINOYS CAN BE THE BEST

Independent senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is one with Pinoys around the globe in celebrating Manny Pacquiao’s victory over Ricky Hatton.

“Muling ipinakita ni Manny kung ano ang tunay na kakayahan ng Pilipino kapag naghanda, nagmatyag, at nagpursigi sa isang layunin,” Pangilinan said shortly after Pacquiao knocked out Hatton in just the second round.

Pangilinan said that with the win Pacquiao has shown the world the might of the Filipinos. “Patunay si Manny na kaya nating mgaPilipino na maging pinakamahusay sa mundo. Mabuhay si Manny. Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino.”
